Busts of doctors and scientists who contributed to the development of Moldova’s health system will be placed on an alley near block No. 1 of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”, IPN reports.

The alley of illustrious scientists and doctors could be ready by next spring. The proposal to create it was put forward by rector Ion Ababii. Initially, there will be 20 busts, but the university pledged to set up by two new busts every year.

The university’s pro-rectos and department heads will have a meeting in the sculptors’ workshop to decide the model of the busts. The granite for the pedestals will be brought from Ukraine.

Among the personalities who contributed to forming the institution’s traditions and whose busts will be placed on the alley are rectors Ipatie Sorocean (1945), Nicolae Testemitanu (1959-1963), Leonid Cobileanschi (1986-1994), and Nicolai Starostenko (1953-1959); lecturers Nicolae Anestiade, Natalia Gheorghiu, Vasile Procopishin, Constantin Tibirna and many others.
