The Christmas tree set up inside the Presidential Palace was provided by a family of teachers from Tohatin. The fir tree had grown in their yard for over 23 years and will now be the symbol of the winter holidays at the Presidential Palace, IPN reports.
“On the occasion of the inauguration of the Christmas tree, I got acquainted with Adam and Tamara Begu, a family of teachers from Tohatin commune who donated the fir tree to our institution. We cordially thank them!” President Maia Sandu posted on her Facebook page.
She noted she was also glad to see the children of her colleagues working at the Presidential Office. “We colored toys together and decorated the Christmas tree. Santa Claus helped us to turn on the lights on the tree. The children sang and danced and we admired them,” wrote President Sandu.
All those who want to admire the tree at the Presidential Palace and take pictures of it can go there from Monday through Friday between 5pm and 6pm and on Saturday from 12 noon until 1pm.
