All students of School of Advanced Journalism to receive scholarships

All those 20 students accepted this year to study at the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism, conducted by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC), will be granted scholarships worth USD 120 per month. The students began classes Monday, September 4. According to Corina Cepoi, IJC director, the School matriculated 20 students from Moldova, including UTA Gagauzia and Transnistria. They were selected due to a rigorous contest, carried out in several stages. First the application files were assessed and candidates graded, then a 3-exercise test followed, the results of which were evaluated by national and guest experts. The last one was the interview. According to IJC director, the best were selected out of 52 applicants. Students will learn broadcast journalism, photojournalism, etc, being taught by national experts, but also coming from Europe and the USA. By the end of the classes trainings will be held in Moldova or Ukraine, Russia, Romania. Having the trainings completed students will attend special courses, such as business and economics or medicine reporting. Eventually students could choose a certain field. IJC is partnered in this project by the Missouri School of Journalism, USA, the Holland based Press Now organization and the Professional Formation of the Journalists Center from Paris.
