All those 285 polling stations in the municipality of Chisinau have been opened and, in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the electoral rolls were posted 20 days before the elections. According to the head of the Department for Local Public Administration, Ludmila Burlaca, each resident of the municipality should check whether their names are include in the electoral rolls. According to the cited source, in this period the City Hall together with the Chisinau District Election Council have organised 5 seminars with civil servants engaged in elections: with the chairmen, vice-chairmen and secretaries of the Election Bureaus and polling stations. During the seminars, the representatives of the Elections Bureaus were explained the provisions of the Electoral Code and were handled the stamps and the other necessary office supplies. Also, Burlaca said that the City Hall regularly inspects the polling stations in the municipality in order to be sure they comply with the requirements of the Central Election Committee. Also, the local public authorities, together with the members of the Election Bureaus of the polling stations started to distribute voting invitations and meet daily with the residents in order to explain them the necessity of participating in the local general elections. On the other hand, the head of the Department for Local Public Administration emphasised that the municipality is also inspecting the electoral posters, working in this respect with the political parties and with the candidates involved in elections. The working commission for the coordination of the pre-election actions of the local public authorities of the municipality of Chisinau will work during all the election campaign and election day. A total of 580 thousand voters will be expected at the polling stations in the Municipality of Chisinau. 19 candidates run for Chisinau mayor, of whom two are independent candidates. 18 political parties and 13 independent candidates are running for local councillor.
