All persons diagnosed with pandemic flu in Moldova came from abroad
All the Moldovans who got infected with pandemic flu came from abroad, the deputy head of the Health Division Luminita Suveica said at Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau divisions and services, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Ukraine reported 60 deaths from the A (H1N1) flu virus and 200,000 cases of infection. Romania announced 100 new cases during the last week alone. Therefore, Moldova runs the risk of facing a flu epidemic, Luminita Suveica said. The pregnant women, children younger than two and persons suffering from chronic diseases are the most vulnerable groups.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca ordered taking measures. He said that all the persons returning from abroad must be examined at the airport, in bus and train terminals.
Ten persons had been diagnosed with pandemic flu in Moldova during the last two days. The patients are receiving treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă” in Chisinau, the Orhei District Hospital and the hospital in Soroca.
Twenty-eight cases of pandemic flu have been confirmed in Moldova by November 2. A 50-year-old man has died as he consulted the doctor too late.
