All the nine members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) received positive appraisals on the part of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS). The information was communicated in a meeting of the investigative journalists’ club staged by the Journalistic Investigations Center, IPN reports.
Iurie Ciocan, ex-president and incumbent member of the CEC, said all the Commission’s members were approved of by the SIS, but the appraisals weren’t published most probably for technical reasons. “I personally held in my hands the SIS appraisal in my name, which said that there are no obstacles to naming me CEC member,” he stated.
Incumbent CEC president Alina Russu asked for transparency in the incomes of each CEC member. “Under the legislation, only three of the nine members are obliged to submit income statements. I ordered yet that each of the nine members should sign such a statement and we will publish these on the website of the CEC. If we get the SIS appraisals, we will publish them too,” she said.
