Alina Stremous: It is a very good result for me and for Moldova

Biathlete Alina Stremous was close to equaling the best result of the Republic of Moldova at the Olympic Games. After Natalia Levcenkova in 2006 finished eighth in the 15 km individual race, Alina Stremous ranked tenth in 7.5 km sprint at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete said she was very happy she finished the sprint tenth as she considers this is a very good result for her and for the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

“I surely wanted a better result. I should have probably skied faster and shot speedier. Nevertheless, I’m proud I didn’t have any penalty at the shooting range as it wasn’t an easy race primarily from physical viewpoint. I felt tiredness since the start of the race,” said Alina Stremous, being quoted by the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

The athlete will also compete in the pursuit race set for February 13.

Asked how the Beijing Olympic Games look to her, Alina Stremous said the conditions in the Olympic village are very good. “Regrettably, we are in a pandemic period that is not at all pleasant. But it is great that I managed to make my debut at the Olympic Games. I hope we will all yet manage to achieve good results for the Republic of Moldova,” stated the biathlete.
