The ex-president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tănase said it is highly improbable that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will have a surprise through the non-validation of the February 24 elections. The issue was developed in the talk show “Moldova live” on Moldova 1 channel, IPN reports.

According to him, a lot will depend on the court decisions that will be taken over the complaints filed by election runners. The Constitutional Court will decide to what extent the presented violations could influence the election results. “After I heard the reaction of international observers, it is highly improbable,” stated Alexandru Tănase.

The former judge noted the reports prepared by political parties concerning the elections are aimed at informing public opinion. “But I don’t know to what extent such a report can serve as an argument for a constitutional court as, according to the law, the Constitutional Court takes into account only the court decisions provided by common law courts,” stated Alexandru Tănase.

According to him, during the election campaign the parties should immediately challenge all the identified violations. “The complaints submitted after the polling stations are closed surely do not have an impact,” stated the ex-judge.

Analyst Anatol Țăranu said it is unlikely that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will witness the invalidation of the parliamentary elections. The judges received six challenges and are to pronounce on these. The verdict on elections given by the international observers usually carries weight.

According to the analyst, questions could appear in some of the constituencies as to the validation of elections, but it is less probable that all the seats of MP will be invalidated.
