Alexandru Tanase: A solution must be identified so that we do not need to go to the polls several times
“Those who govern Moldova and the Communists Party, which represents a large part of the electorate, are obliged to find a solution and define the procedure for electing the head of state so that we do not need to go the polls several times. The people are tired of such a situation,” first vice president of the PLDM, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said during the program “Politics Live” on the public television channel Moldova 1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Alexandru Tanase said a state must develop its economy, the social infrastructure, the relations with the neighboring countries. To do this, Moldova must remove the instability so that all the state institutions function normally.
“We realize that the Communists Party aims to maintain this unusable situation as it faces a deep crisis inside and cannot identify a new leader of the party. Thus, the best solution for them is to perpetuate instability,” said Alexandru Tanase.
He urged the Communists to give up their ambitions and return to the sittings of the Parliament, where the decisions are taken. “We have responsibility towards the people. With such discussions, we confused not only the Moldovan people but also the Venice Commission and all the partners. Nobody understands what's going on in Moldova,” Tanase said.
“We should came together and discuss the constitutional amendment proposals of the PCRM and the government coalition so as to see which one is more feasible,” Alexandru Tanase said, addressing to the Communist MP Grigore Petrenco, who was also taking part in the program.
Petrenco replied that the Communist lawmakers are willing to negotiate, but the Alliance for European Integration refuses to. “We are ready to vote in favor of modifying article 78 of the Constitution. If a consensus is not reached by June 16, Mihai Ghimpu will have to dissolve the Parliament and set the date of early elections,” Grigore Petrenco said.
