Alexandru Slusari: We suspect that BEM shares were bought by Plahotniuc

Alexandru Slusari, Chairman of the Inquiry Commission investigating the bank fraud, says that there are reasonable suspicions that in 2013 the BEM actions were acquired by companies of the former PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc, after the state had been dispossessed of the control package.

According to Alexandru Slusari, the Inquiry Commission requests the Prosecutor General's Office, the Security and Intelligence Service and the National Anticorruption Center to submit comprehensive information on the final beneficiaries of a series of companies: Garant Grup SRL, Carmadean Development SRL, Wall Trend LTD, Tintel Project LTD, Cateco Prim SRL and Vlados Grup SRL.

"We request that PG, SIS and CNA get in touch with international counterparts as we received more information that these companies, which bought BEM shares in 2012-2013, were in fact controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc," the MP wrote on Facebook.

The Commission found earlier that, after the Government approved the state guarantees for the emergency loans granted by National Bank of Moldova, the three beneficiary banks operated without government surveillance and embezzled “tremendous amounts of money” from Moldova’s banking system.

Based on the Commission’s conclusions, it was requested to start the criminal prosecution for malfeasance in office against the former prime minister Iurie Leancă, former NBM governor Dorin Drăguțanu, former Speaker Andrian Candu and former Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu.
