Ruslan Flocea’s appointment as director of the National Anti-corruption Centre (CNA) may be temporary, as could be the appointment of the interim Prosecutor General. This could be happening in the context of the planned changes to the judiciary legislation, says Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari.

“I think that proposals will soon be made to change the legal framework in the field of justice. Possibly, the status of the National Anti-corruption Center will be affected, thus this may be a temporary position. Believe me, there were no secret deals, not even close (behind the appointments),” the ACUM/DA lawmaker stated during a talk show on RTR Moldova.

Alexandru Slusari says that there were no prior deals inside the parliamentary majority, neither regarding the two positions, nor regarding the field of justice in general. According to him, offices are allocated among parties only when it is possible from a political point of view - i.e. the parliamentary committees, the Central Election Commission.

Socialist group leader Vlad Batrîncea considers that people don’t really care about how these selection processes take place and that in the media the focus has been shifted from content to form. The socialist MP also insists that there was no arrangement regarding appointments for management positions at different institutions.

Democratic group leader Dumitru Diacov is of the opinion that most people in the legal system, prosecutors and judges alike, are honest people, people who want to be efficient. In his opinion, the current government must have a different attitude towards them - it should show some level of confidence in them. The Democrat says that if these people are under attack, it is normal for the legal system to show resistance.

Ruslan Flocea, previously Secretary General of the President's Administration, was confirmed three days ago by 72 votes in Parliament as director of the National Anti-corruption Center, based on the nomination of the Legal Committee.
