Alexandru Slusari: Prosecutor general could demand to lift immunity of some MPs

Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo could come to Parliament on March 10 to demand to lift the immunity of a number of MPs, Deputy Parliament Speaker Alexandru Slusari was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.

He noted there are a number of MPs who deserve to be stripped of immunity. “I didn’t hear names and do not communicate with the Prosecutor’s Office. But they spoke about criminal cases started over the bank fraud, the MP corruption case, the case concerning the Press House and we know who is involved. My calculations show that at least three MPs, former members of the Democratic Party, deserve to be stripped of immunity,” stated Alexandru Slusari.

Asked to comment, press officer of the Prosecutor General’s Office Maria Vieru said that when there is information that needs to be communicated, they will communicate it.

Alexandru Slusari also said that the decision to set the Parliament sitting for March 10 was taken in the March 9 meeting of the Standing Bureau that lasted for not more than 10 minutes. Besides the presence of the prosecutor general in Parliament, Cabinet reshuffles could also be announced in tomorrow’s sitting.

“Tomorrow, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi could propose discussing subjects that weren’t announced in the Bureau’s meeting, about the change of the structure of the Government, for example,” stated the MP.

Parliament convenes at 10am on March 10.
