The head of the former parliamentary commission of inquiry into the bank fraud Alexandru Slusari said that he had a meeting with Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo on the latter’s initiative and he felt that the official already collected enough facts about this fraud. But he was surprised to learn that Alexandr Stoianoglo hasn’t yet familiarized himself with the annexes to the Second Kroll Report that contains the names of the theft beneficiaries, IPN reports.
“The investigation of the bank fraud was the main subject of the discussion. I reiterated the inquiry commission’s position that the process of robbing the banking system was a well-planned operation coordinated with politicians and state officials who were obliged to counteract the theft. The robbing plan had been implemented in stages and persistently starting with 2011, adjustments being made on the way, depending on the appetite of the swindle authors, when the resistance of the competent state institutions was diminishing substantially,” Alexandru Slusari posted on Facebook.
According to him, the prosecutor general expressed his readiness to cooperate with Parliament on condition that he is not involved in political games. “On behalf of the DA Platform group, I assured him that we are those who have been struggling against the depoliticization of justice since 2015 even if a number of activists of the Platform during the past four years suffered considerably as a result of the actions of the law enforcement agencies controlled by one political clan. For us, it is now imperative that the prospector general be a neutral and politically uninfluenced figure,” stated Alexandru Slusari.
He noted it is important that the Prosecutor General’s Office investigate swiftly a number of resonant cases and report to Parliament on these cases, including the bank fraud, the videos showing President Igor Dodon, concession of the Airport, kidnapping of the Turkish teachers, wiretapping etc.
The inquiry commission’s report was presented in Parliament on October 17. This says the process of robbing the banking system was a well-planned operation coordinated with politicians and state officials. As a result, a Parliament decision to entrust relevant tasks to the Government, the National Bank of Moldova and the Prosecutor General’s Office was adopted by 60 votes in favor. The parliamentary group of the DA Platform asked to set up a new commission of inquiry into the bank theft.
