Alexandru Slusari: Octavian Țîcu's announcement was actually a political statement

MP Octavian Țîcu’s announcement that he leaves the DA Platform group in the Parliament, but remains in the ACUM bloc, is actually a political statement because, from a legal point of view, this is not possible. The statement belongs to the chairman of the DA Platform ACUM group, Alexandru Slusari. According to him, Octavian Țîcu's announcement that he wants to run for the local elections in Chisinau is a betrayal of the party leader, Andrei Năstase, who has long been announced as candidate for mayor, IPN reports.

"His leaving was not a great surprise for us, but it was an unpleasant surprise that 10 minutes before the group’s meeting, he came and announced that in addition to leaving the group, he intended to run for mayoralty, without previously discussing it. He was gone for quite a while and even returned not long ago from a business trip. Too bad Octavian has not become a constituent part of the DA Platform team,” said Alexandru Slusari on the " Secrets of power" show, Jurnal TV.

The MP does not take into consideration the idea that Andrei Nastase should withdraw from the race for Chisinau City Hall in favour of Octavian Țîcu. “We think that Octavian Țîcu, having every possibility to express himself in the Da Platform group, has taken an absolutely wrong decision. Let him bear the consequences. The group has its own agenda, the party has its own agenda, the ACUM bloc has its own candidate whom we are going to register at the Chisinau Electoral Council ”, stated Alexandru Slusari.

Igor Munteanu, MP of the same group, argues that Octavian Țîcu acted selfishly. Instead of campaigning for a cause that belongs to the ACUM bloc, he took a shorter road, which unfortunately, does not serve the cause. “And after overthrowing Plahotniuc’ s pyramid regime, our cause is to build viable institutions that will serve the public interest. That is where the great divergences and differences came up,” said Igor Munteanu.

The MP says he is disappointed with Octavian Țîcu's spectacular gesture, but it will not be "lethal" for the election campaign. Igor Munteanu maintains that the ACUM bloc will continue to work together for the candidate Andrei Năstase, who he believes will win the current elections.

The MP Octavian Țîcu announced yesterday that he was leaving the DA Platform ACUM group, but would remain as an independent MP within the ACUM bloc. He also said he would run for Mayor of Chisinau in the local elections on October 20.
