The governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Octavian Armașu suggested Alexandru Savva for the post of vice governor to Parliament. “The candidate was selected according to the criteria stipulated in the law on the NBM, such as professional integrity, good reputation, rich experience in the financial sector, etc.”, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the central bank.
“This post should be held by a professional who would respect and promote the values of the central bank, would be upright and politically unaffiliated. Alexandru Savva fully meets these criteria. During the last few years, he has taken part in the modernization of the financial market of the Republic of Moldova. I hope the MPs will support this candidate as the NBM should remain an independent institution and should continue the reforms,” runs the press release.
Alexandru Savva is a financial market specialist with experience of over 18 years. He started work in 2001 at the National Commission for Financial Markets, where he headed the Regulations Section and then served as adviser to the President. He is a Doctor of Finance (ASEM, 2013-2014), a Master in Economic Law (ASEM, 2007-2008) and a Master of Financial Regulation (UK, 2016-2017). He is the author and co-author of different regulations, studies and specialized publications, including the law on the capital market and the law on the central securities depository.
