Alexandru Pinzari: Concept of activity of community police was approved

The concept that defines the general rules of implementing the activity of the community police all over the Republic of Moldova was approved, Alexandru Pinzari, head of the General Police Inspectorate, stated in a special program on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

He noted that this concept envisions the approval of the community police and their problems and the renovation of police stations. “Together with the concept, there was also approved a plan of action providing that a particular number of police stations will be refurbished according to standards each year. This year we will renew 17 police stations and will plan the works in another 30 stations,” said Alexandru Pinzari. At least 100 police stations are to be renovated by the end of 2020.

Ulrica Granberg, manager of the project “Swedish Support for the Police Reform in the Republic of Moldova” and police inspector, said that a plan for training the community police was worked within the same project. “As part of this three-year-project, together with the police of Moldova and the Police Academy, we will think up a curriculum and this will be used as the police in Moldova would want,” stated the Swedish inspector.

Bertil Rosenberg, Swedish police inspector and expert within the same project, said the activity of the community police is based on the better understanding of problems at the local level. According to him, among the first steps that Moldova should take is to increase the people’s confidence in the police, to identify the real problems and to collect information from several sources, not only from statistics and police reports.
