The chairman of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) Alexandru Oleinic said that at the end of the spring-summer session of Parliament, the people witness again scandals inside the ruling alliance and continue to name unemployment, the low incomes, poverty, the economic situation and corruption as the most important problems faced by Moldova.
According to a statement issued by the politician, quoted by IPN, the current state of affairs shows that the government didn’t manage to improve the living standards in the country. “Thus, over half a million Moldovans continue to be poor. The unemployment rate among young people is two times higher than the average per country, while 95% of the citizens consider that corruption is the major problem faced by Moldova,” stated Alexandru Oleinic.
The politician added that the adoption of the bill to increase the salaries and pensions for some categories of people before the election campaign is a proof of the total irresponsibility of the current government. At the same time, a number of bills referring to farmers and agricultural products were ignored.
Alexandru Oleinic reminds that the PPRM warned the government about the necessity of fulfilling the commitments made before signing the Association Agreement. The measures were to prepare the economy and the people of Moldova for the implementation of the accord. The PPRM pleaded for the modification of the economic development model and the adjustment of the economic reforms to the social protection policies by taking the minimum subsistence level as basis for calculating the salaries, pensions and social welfare.
The PPRM insists on the immediate adoption of a plan of measures for restoring the structure of the economy so that agriculture and the processing industry have the largest share and are declared as key sectors for state investments. The PPRM has constantly pleaded for a new development model in Moldova, where agriculture can play the role of driving force of the national economy.
