The body of Moldova’s first Parliament Speaker Alexandru Mosanu will be laid at the Church “Saint Teodora de la Sihla” in Chisinau in the evening of December 9, at 5pm. All those who knew and praised him can come to bid farewell to him.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the funeral ceremony will start at the Palace of the Republic at 10am on December 10. A gathering In Memoriam will be held between 12 noon and 1pm. Later, the funeral column will move to the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great, where a meeting will take place at 1:30pm. It will then go to the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca St.

Alexandru Mosanu distinguished himself as a remarkable historian, university lecturer and doctor habilitate of historical sciences. He was an active participant in the major changes that occurred in our country since the obtaining of independence and played an important role in strengthening the democratic processes in the Republic of Moldova. As a Speaker of Parliament (1990-1993) and an MP (1990-1998), Alexandru Mosanu remains one of the most prominent figures in Moldova’s history.

Alexandru Mosanu died on December 7 at the age of 85, IPN reports.
