The secretary general of the Democratic Party Alexandru Jizdan said the arrest of his mate, ex-head of the General Police Inspectorate (GPI) Alexandru Pînzari is an excessive and fully unfounded measure. He believes that there are particular interests behind those actions, but avoided providing relevant details.

In a news conference at IPN, Alexandru Jizdan said the operational divisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs have a number of sources whose name cannot be revealed as this is a state secret. But all the agents, residents, officers under cover are recruited and made to cooperate according to one and the same procedure. When secret agents are recruited, the chief who signs the contract knows only the pseudonym, while Alexandru Pînzari signed a number of such documents, but Plahotniuc’s relative Dorin Damir is behind one of those names.

According to him, Alexandru Pînzari was arrested because he signed a document, saying that the police employed a particular Ion Pădure for secret activity. During three years while he had headed the General Police Inspectorate, Alexandru Pînzari signed contracts for Vasile Roată, Dumitru Catămult, Nicolae Nasgros and others. To realize the logic of the case started against Pînzari, arrests should be made in all these cases, but these persons are not Plahotniuc’s relatives,” stated the Democratic heavyweight.

Alexandru Jizdan assured that the obtaining of operative information is a complex activity and it is impossible to predict the number and quality of the information that will be provided by an agent or another. “What all the operatives know is that the revealing of the identity of the source is a fatal mistake that can have drastic consequences. That’s why when choosing between the result and the security of the agent, the last one is key. If it is established that the source no longer holds interest for the system, this is removed from the network according to the same rules of confidentiality,” he stated.

Also, the more odious is the recruited person, the more successful the recruitment is considered. “People who lead a simple lifestyle are no recruited and they do not communicate with the special contingent. Persons who take drugs, persons with a criminal record, persons who are in contact with the underworld or persons who are there where the state has interests are coopted,” stated Alexandru Jizdan.

According to the PDM secretary general, the case happened in 2017, while the arrests started recently, before the elections, when the public space was filled with denigrating information about those arrested and about himself.

In another development, Alexandru Jizdan said he and Alexandru Pînzari do not have and didn’t have something in common with Tirex as it has been reported recently.

Alexandru Jizdan said Alexandru Pînzari does not pose a threat to society, especially because he, by definition, is a fighter for national security. He guarantees that his mate will not avoid communication with the investigation body while outside remand.
