The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office provided details after Alexandru Dodon, the brother of ex-President Igor Dodon, the leader of the PSRM, last night was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport, when he was returning to the country. He is investigated for complicity in the crime of illicit enrichment, and he was already charged, IPN reports.

Earlier, an arrest warrant was issued against Alexandru Dodon because his whereabouts were not known and he was to be informed about the indictment order regarding complicity in illicit enrichment.

After he was arrested, he was informed about the accusations brought against him and was questioned. Subsequently, he was placed in the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center. The criminal investigation measures continue.

The criminal case regarding the crime of illicit enrichment was started in 2022.

Igor Dodon described his brother's arrest as a continuation of the reprisals organized by the PAS government.
