Alexandra Tîrșu, Moldovan with Stradivarius in her arms

“Alexandra Tîrșu obtained a Stradivarius dating from 1699!” The musical world in the Republic of Moldova on social networking sites expresses its enthusiasm about the decision by the British company “J & A Beare” to provide the young violinist with a Stradivarius violin dating from 1699, IPN reports.

According to the quoted source, these violins are not for sale. They are only leased out to very good musicians who already achieved remarkable results. In time, the violin that is now in Alexandrei Tîrșu’s possession was used by Ida Haendel, a great violinist of the 20th century who had George Enescu among her teachers.

Alexandra Tîrșu began to study violin at the Chisinau School “Sergei Rachmaninoff” and then studied in Austria and Switzerland. Last year she won the Third Prize of the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. “This is an accomplishment of which Moldova can be proud,” stated the violinist.

Together with the London Symphony Orchestra, Alexandra Tîrsu is now recording a CD with works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Paul Lorenz (an Austrian contemporary composer) in the studios of Abbey Road.

At the end of this summer, the artist is expected to perform in the seventh edition of the Classical Music Festival “Moldo Crescendo” in Chisinau.
