The Republic of Moldova has one more athlete who has qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Alexandra Marca secured her presence in Rio after going through to the semifinals of the last qualifying competition in archery that is taking place in Turkey, IPN reports.
In the quarterfinals, the 22-year-old athlete eliminated the competition’s favorite Alicia Marin of Spain. Marca won the three sets by 27-23, 28-25 and 27-25.
Instead, Dan Olaru and Dmitri Dancov failed to qualify for the Olympic Games. Dancov was beaten by Switzerland’s Adrian Faber in the second round, while Olaru lost in the 1/16 finals to Pavel Dalidovich of Belarus.
