Alexandr Stoianoglo: We have a huge chance to win on November 3 and we will win

The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Alexandr Stoianoglo, who reached the runoff election, is counting on the support of other parties, political leaders and opinion leaders. Like Maia Sandu, whom he will face in the runoff, Stoianoglo supports the idea of joint participation in a debate, but insists that it should take place on a neutral platform, IPN reports.

“Dear voters, yesterday you performed a real miracle, a miracle that few believed in anymore. The regime prepared in advance for victory. It suppressed and banned opposition media, imposed censorship, established one-party control over the Central Election Commission. It launched fake sociological surveys, abolished election observation and abused administrative resources, including foreign ones. The result – a resounding and shameful failure. It is already clear that if the election had been organized according to European and democratic standards, the regime would have been sanctioned even more harshly,” the candidate said in a press briefing.

According to Stoianoglo, the most shameful part of the election is related to the referendum. “They believed that the European path could be appropriated by one person. They tried to create a false battle between good and evil, again dividing citizens between good and second-class pro-Europeans, just because they think differently. But the result was the opposite of what was wanted. The lack of credibility of the ruling party’s candidate dragged down the result, bringing Moldova’s European future to the brink of total discredit. The election results show that the overwhelming majority of society knows its interests well and understands the importance of national objectives,” said the PSRM’s candidate.

Alexandr Stoianoglo also said that from now on, a common foundation must be found for the consolidation of the entire society and of all political and civil forces in the Republic of Moldova. The majority of Moldovans clearly understand that the country needs justice, respect for all citizens, the rule of law, economic development and jobs and, of course, a clear direction for sovereign development in the European family of nations.

“This must be the unifying agenda in the runoff presidential election. And here I’m not just talking about myself. I count a lot on the support of other parties, political leaders and opinion leaders. We have a huge chance to win on November 3 and we will win. At the same time, I want to call on Maia Sandu to give citizens the opportunity to create their own impression about the electoral programs, and debates, on a neutral platform, are the best method," said Alexandr Stoianoglo.

With 99.77% of the minutes counted, Maia Sandu won 42.40% of the vote, and Alexandr Stoianoglo – 26.01%.
