“Together with my family, today I voted for a peaceful Moldova, a modern Moldova, a prosperous Moldova,” the Party of Socialists’ candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo said after casting his ballot at the polling station, IPN reports.

The election contestant said that the Republic of Moldova needs another government. “Moldova needs the respect of our citizens, our people, regardless of ethnicity, age, political views, religion,” said Alexandr Stoianoglo. According to the candidate, all the actions must be in the interests of the country and the citizens.

Stoianoglo also said that he did not take the ballot to vote in the referendum, not because he is not a supporter of European integration, but because he does not support the position of the current government.

In the Republic of Moldova, an election for the office of President and a national constitutional referendum on European integration are taking place today. Traditionally, polls open at 07:00 a.m. and close at 09:00 p.m.
