Prosecutor General Alexand Stoianoglo said that he is not afraid of being removed from his post and that there are people from the spheres of influence of Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor behind the denigration campaign aimed against him. The two got scared of the progress made in the investigation of the bank fraud and thus want him to be removed from the post of prosecutor general, IPN reports.
The head of the Prospector General’s Office (PGO) said he is not afraid of losing his job now that his dismissal is reportedly discussed in political circles in Chisinau.
“I’m not afraid at all. I came to the PGO not to solve personal problems. They cannot scare me with my dismissal. There are bandits, who became more active after the investigations into resonant cases related to the bank fraud moved on, behind the agitation for my dismissal,” Alexandr Stoianoglo stated in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel.
Moreover, Stoianoglo said there are persons in Parliament who defend the interests of Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor, they being those who want him to leave.
“In Parliament, there are people who had been involved in the bank theft and they defend the interests of the corporations from the spheres of influence of Shor and Plahotniuc. These people will do their best to discredit me and to remove me from the PGO,” stated Alexandr Stoianoglo.
He noted that the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the Russian Laundromat was created on the initiative of the MPs of the Shor Party so as to hamper and attack the PGO.
“This commission paralyzed a part of the PGO’s activity. They want me to go there. What should I discuss with the members of that commission? I do not have any connection with the Laundromat,” stated Alexandr Stoianoglo.
According to unofficial reports, the dismissal of Stoianoglo is being discussed by the Superior Council of Prosecutors. In accordance with the law, the prosecutor general can be dismissed by presidential decree at the suggestion of the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
