MP Alexandr Nesterovschi said that today’s attempt by Parliament to lift his parliamentary immunity is a clear manifestation of fear on the part of the Party of Action and Sodality in the embodiment that became a symbol of the right of the Revival Party, IPN reports.
According to him, searches were carried out on Thursday at homes of members of the party in the south, center and north of Moldova. These searches are a deplorable attempt to scare them, to deprive them of the right to vote and of the right to fight against the illegalities committed in the country.
The MP called on the international community to devote attention to the events that take place in Moldova and to condemn the ruling party’s actions. According to him, the pressure exerted by the ruling party will not stop the Revival Party from continuing its fight for the citizens and for the country.
The Prosecutor General’s Office today asked to lift the parliamentary immunity of Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi. Alexandr Nesterovschi is featured in three requests to lift the immunity of MP, over passive corruption – asking, acceptance and receiving of undue gains by a public figure in person or through intermediaries for taking particular action in the fulfillment of his duties, over conscious acceptance of financing for the political party from an organized criminal group, and over illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups, election contenders or participants in a referendum and preparing of financing for political parties from sources prohibited by law.
Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi entered Parliament on the ticket of the Party of Socialists, but they defected from this party in March 2023 and joined the Revival Party in May. The Revival Party was later joined by two more former Socialist MPs, Vasile Bolea and Alexandr Suhodolski.
