Alert system of Transnistria verified

The authorities of Moldova’s Transnistrian region decided to check the alert system. On August 19, the sirens will be set off simultaneously all over the region. The last verification showed that the system is faulty, IPN reports.

In June, the alert system of the Transnistrian region was verified and 13 of the 35 sirens didn’t react. Most of them didn’t work owing to technical faults. Vitalii Melnic, head of the general staff of the Tiraspol-based Civil Protection Service, has told “Novostipmr” Agency that he is concerned about the technical state of the system.

According to him, from December 2012 the region’s alert system hasn’t been checked because the electricians tendered their resignation given that they received a very low salary.

The alert system will be verified on August 19, at 12 midday.
