The Chisinau International Airport was placed on alert after the fire alarm system started ringing at a terminal on Friday morning. Images showing people with luggage leaving the airport appeared in the public space.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Liliana Pușcașu said that the call to 112 was received at around 08:40 a.m. According to the first information, the fire alarm system at a terminal started working.
"According to the protocol, three crews of rescuers and firefighters were sent to the scene for examinations to check if there is any source of smoke or burning. For now, nothing is clear. We will provide details later," said Liliana Pușcașu.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, representatives of the airport did not answer the phone. The Border Police said they will issue a press release with details later today.
