Fines for production, transport and marketing of counterfeit alcoholic beverages will be increased. The Government has approved on Wednesday, August 30, a draft law regarding this issue. According to some amendments to the penal code, the mentioned actions will be penalized only if the action has great proportions, but this formulation has been left out of the legislation. Also, changes have been made to the Code of administrative contraventions that will allow withdrawing from the market counterfeit alcoholic products even if they were not meant for commercialization. The bill has been prepared by the Agro-industrial agency „Moldova-Vin”, that believes the changes will help solve current issues in the alcoholic production branch.
