Moldova’s top-rated tennis player Radu Albot has won the first qualifier at the Miami Open, an APT tournament, by prevailing over Italy’s Gianluigi Quinzi (number 144 ATP) in two sets 7-6, 6-0.
In the second round, Albot is pitted against United States’s Mitchell Krueger (170 ATP). If he wins this, the 29-year-old Moldovan will possibly meet Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer or Dominic Thiem in the main draw.
Radu Albot is currently ranked 46 in the ATP rankings, the best performance ever for a Moldovan tennis player.
