Radu Albot has qualified for the semifinals of the international Challenger tournament held in Trnava, Slovakia, IPN reports.
After beating Romania’s Victor Crivoi (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and Robin Haase of the Netherlands (1-6, 6-3, 6-0), Albot eliminated in the quarterfinals Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, who has a better position in the ATP rankings (151st). The Moldovan tennis player needed two hours and a half to beat him in three sets by 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
On September 20, Albot meets Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria in the semifinals. Radu Albot, 24, in his career has won only one Challenger trophy in the singles, in Fergana, Uzbekistan, last September.
