Albot qualifies for 1/8 finals of Challenger tournament in Germany

After managing to qualify for the second round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament for the second time in his career last week, Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot already competes in Germany. He is taking part in the Challenge tournament of Braunschweig, which is played on cinder surfaces, IPN reports.

In the first match, Albot beat the representative of the hosts – 18-year-old Daniel Altmaier, who is world No. 209. The match lasted for two hours and 26 minutes and was put off in the third round owing to rain. The German player won the first set by 4-6. Later, Albot recover and won the next two sets by 6-4, 7-5.

In the 1/8 finals, the 27-year-old player could meet the top seed of the competition Horacio Zeballos of Argentina. The world No. 52 today plays against Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann, who takes the 173rd position in the ATP rankings.
