Ala Tocarciuc treated herself for COVID-19 based on German protocols: I wanted to live

Public health expert Ala Tocarciuc said that in 2020, she became the victim of the pandemic for two times. So as to recover, she treated herself for COVID-19 based on German protocols, not on Moldovan ones.

“I wanted to live. I wanted to remain alive and throughout this year I’ve said that the major goal is to remain alive after this pandemic. It is painful, but this is the reality. To remain alive, we need to be treated correctly. This virus attacked so unpredictably that there is no time to wait. Sometimes, you have an hour or two to decide what to do next,” the expert stated in the talk show “Shadow Cabinet” on Jurnal TV channel.

Ala Tocarciuc noted that she benefitted from medical assistance from the state only once, when it was an emergency.

“I was helped only once, when I went to the Emergency Assistance Institute in the evening and had a CT scan of the chest. I also had to do some tests as the taken samples didn’t reach the laboratory. The costs of the rest of the treatment and examinations were covered by me,” stated the public health expert.

She noted that the Moldovan authorities met a part of the requirements too late or superficially, while the others were fulfilled only on paper. The protocol concerning the treatment at home, which is less costly than the treatment at the hospital, appeared only in December and compensated medicines were also approved then.

“My question is: Why didn’t we do this in April?” asked Ala Tocarciuc.

She also said the authorities declared that the national labs have a total testing capacity of 7,000 tests, but so many persons have never been tested during one day.
