The Ministry of Health describes the immunization of a man in the street as “excess of zeal”. Minister Ala Nemerenco said that even if international practice permits vaccination out-of-doors, the process should take place in conditions of maximum safety. She yet assured that the person who is shown to be administering the vaccine in the street is an employee of the health system, IPN reports.
The minister noted that during the “Immunization Week” campaign, a number of employees of the public and private health system promoted vaccination against COVID-19 through Moldova’s settlements. But the immunization of persons in the street is not appropriate.
“It went not only to MPs. The Police Inspectorate also became involved and volunteers travelled to communities. Such kind of vaccination is not normal and it was excess of zeal. If someone is vaccinated outside, the person should be seated as a reaction can appear even as a result of a sting. I determined that the woman is a medical worker. Immunization should be yet performed in safe conditions,” Ala Nemerenco stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.
She also said that the COVID-19 vaccine certificate issued in Moldova will be soon accepted at European level.
“Last week, the European Commission informed us that our COVID-19 certificate successfully passed all the tests and is now being equaled. When a decision is issued, our certificate will have the same value as the certificates issued in European states. Also, the persons who completed the vaccine series in Romania, if we start to administer the third, booster shot, will be able to get it here and these certificates will be standardized,” stated Ala Nemerenco.
According to the Ministry of Health, the national vaccination rate now stands at 25.5%. The highest rate of vaccination with a complete series was recorded in the municipality of Chisinau – 38%, while the lowest rate – in ATU Gagauzia - 15%.
