An informational monitoring board will be set up near the Chisinau City Hall. It will provide exact information about the state of air. Contacted by IPN, the head of the Air Quality Monitoring Section of the State Hydrometeorology Service Gavril Galca said the installation costs about €190,000.
It consists of an air quality and composition monitoring station and an information board. “The information will be presented in a comprehensible way. The people will know that the air is clean up to a certain limit. If the indicators are higher they will have to protect themselves. The board will also make forecasts,” said Gavril Galca.
He added that the allocations from the national budget do not enable to implement such a project. Foreign financing is the only solution. Relevant requests were made to a number of international institutions and organizations.
The installation of such a station can contribute to the improvement of the quality of air in Chisinau as measures will be taken when exact information about the state of the air is available. It will be the first station of the kind on Moldova’s territory.
