Air Moldova calls order to stop selling tickets ‘unfounded and illegitimate’

Air Moldova considers the Civil Aviation Authority’s order for the airline to stop selling tickets for the 2023 summer season to be “unfounded and illegitimate”. The airline’s reaction comes after the Authority said that it found “serious financial irregularities” at Air Moldova following an unannounced inspection.

But Air Moldova is challenging the findings, calling them “clearly fabricated”, and claims that the frequency with which the Authority inspects the company amount to “harassment”.

“The Civil Aeronautical Authority is merely joining the political games and attacks on Air Moldova that aim at sabotaging the operational and economic activity of the company, generating irretrievable losses for Air Moldova as well as a strong social impact. What is actually happening? Those in power use all the instruments, including by conspiring with competitors who have pending criminal cases, government authorities, the banking sector to bankrupt Air Moldova and take control of a private company”, the airline said in a communique.

Air Moldova added that it intends to sue the Authority and complain to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
