AIE held 'one of its most peaceful meetings'
The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AIE) gathered for a meeting of the Alliance Council on Tuesday evening to review the priorities for the fall-winter parliamentary session and the unfinished issues from the previous session. Participants described it “one of the most peaceful meetings” to date, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dumitru Diacov, head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, communicated that Prime Minister Vlad Filat’s visit in Moscow was discussed at the meeting. Filat presented a report and they talked about the gas supply agreement that must be signed with Russia.
Head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said the focus would be from now onwards on issues of national interest that derive from the government program assumed by the three parties that make up the AIE. Meanwhile, Valeriu Strelet added that AIE would not give up the EU energy package and that such a decision would mean a regress and a waste of time and energy.
Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu ruled out withdrawing from the EU energy arrangements and admitted Moldova would not get a small price for gas. “Russia is a country with energy resources and the market dictates the prices”, concluded the Liberal.
The AIE leaders said they didn’t discuss the replacements of Government officials or the appointment of the new director of the Security and Intelligence Service. They also denied talking about the new Moldovan ambassador to Russia.
The meeting of the AIE Council on September 18 was the first after the MPs’ recess. Presently the Liberal-Democratic Party holds the chairmanship of AIE.
