Agriculture Research Entities to reorganize

The Government will reorganize 13 agriculture-related research entities, 12 subordinated to the Agriculture Ministry and 1 to the Moldova-Vin Agency. They will be amassed into 5 new institutes, Info-Prim Neo reports. Agriculture Minister Anatolie Gorodenco says the goal is to decrease the number of managing personnel, to consolidate the money the scientific and logistic potential. They want to separate the research and testing activities from the production and selling activities. The new institutes will have statuses of public entities and will be financed from the state budget. Following this reorganization, the Cabinet expects to create a more competitive scientific area, closer to production needs, more attractive in recruiting young scientists. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry deems the budget allocations for research in the area will rise from 40 million lei in 2007 to 70-75 million in 2008.
