Agricultural fairs in Chisinau to last till November
Till the beginning of November, agricultural fairs will be organized in Chisinau, where merchants will be able to sell goods from cars. No special authorization will be needed. The decision was announced later last week.
Now only one fair officially functions, on Mitropolit Varlaam str., on the road between Bulgara and Armenească streets. Some 60 vendors expose their goods there. The local authorities promise soon more fairs will be allowed in all the capital’s sectors. The goal is to supply the city residents with produce, and to prevent the unauthorized trade on the capital’s streets.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the deputy manager of the Piata Centrala, Victor Gutium, has said the merchants will pay a tax of 55 lei a day – this money will be used for cleaning. He could not specify if the produce from fairs will be cheaper. “The administration cannot influence prices.”
According to the manager of Piata Centrala (Central Market), Ion Stratulat, the farmers selling goods will have to produce a certificate confirming they have grown the produce on their plots of land. The act can be obtained from the mayor-office of their village.
He says the farmers are interested in fairs, instead of marketplaces, as they are thus offered more selling space for their produce.
In Piata Centrala, the vendors pay 400 lei monthly. They thus pay 8-10 lei a day, according to contracts signed with the Market’s management. Instead they are offered less solicited places.
