Agricultural census to be conducted in 2010
The conducting of the 2010 General Agricultural Census is the main item on the Agenda of Statistical Activities for this year. The costs related to the census are estimated at 76.14 million lei, including 61.2 million lei of foreign contribution and 14.9 million lei of government contribution, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Lucia Spoiala, general director of the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).
Other statistical activities in 2010 include two researches: “Employment of young specialists” and “Harmonizing the career with the family life”, which is a complementary module to a broader study titled “The Labor Force Survey”.
In total, BNS intends to publish this year 105 works, over 160 notes and preliminary statistical reports, and 30 statistical reports.
Approximately 100 questionnaires will be filled out and submitted to the relevant international institutions.
The central administrative authorities and the state institutions will compile 50 statistical reports and 51 informative reports and send them to the interested public authorities.
According to Lucia Spoiala, the program takes into account the necessity of making statistical data available to the decision makers as they need them in the process of formulating economic development policies and assessing the implementation level, and the rising demand for information on the part of national and foreign users of statical data.
Another objective was to better promote Moldova in the European and international information area. Thus, the term for preparing and presenting 12 statistical works (the number of newborns and deaths, the structure of the population by age and sexes, the aging coefficient, certain agricultural data) has been reduced. In other cases, the term was extended so as to ensure a better quality of the calculations.
In order to diminish the reporting burden imposed on the economic entities, the data about the number of employees and workplaces at companies with up to 19 employees will be compiled not quarterly, but yearly.
The statistical works program for 2010 will be implemented from the budgetary funds allocated to the National Bureau of Statistics and with the money provided by foreign backers for the agricultural census.
