The agreement on the formation of a pro-European alliance in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), which was signed by the councilors of the Liberal Party, the electoral bloc “European People’s Party of Moldova “Iurie Leanca”, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, was published on the Chisinau City Hall’s website. The agreement envisions the improvement of urban management, engagement of the residents in taking decision, implementation of measures that will effectively reduce the discretion of the human factor and will give priority to corruption fighting, IPN reports.

The special functioning principles of the alliance are: mutual and collegial confidence, transparency, consensus and consultative spirit in decision-making, politically unconditioned approval of the normative framework and reforms.

The 26 municipal councilors and parties that signed the agreement will meet every half a year to coordinate the agenda items and principled matters related to the organization and functioning of the alliance, with the participation of the mayor general, if necessary. The Alliance Council, which will consist of up to three-member delegations of the signatory parties, will convene before the meetings of the CMC and when necessary.

The signatories pledge not to stage mutual political attacks (including attacks on the person and public accusations) that can destabilize the situation in the CMC. The alliance will not allow naming or keeping in responsible posts persons condemned for acts of corruption.

The agreement was signed in the evening of September 3.
