Agreement on Iasi-Ungeni gas interconnection point signed

The Moldovan state enterprise “Vestmoldtransgaz” has signed today in Bucharest an agreement for the operation of the Iasi-Ungheni interconnection point with the Romanian National Gas Transmission Company “Transgaz”, IPN reports.

The Moldovan Government said in a press release the agreement lays the basis for the joint operation of the 44 kilometre-long Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline.

The Iasi-Ungheni pipeline is an ongoing project to interconnect the Moldovan and the Romanian gas transmission systems. While its annual transmission capacity should be of of 1,5 billion m3, at the first stage Romania plans to deliver up to 50 billion m3 a year to Moldova.

Work on building the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline started on 27 August 2013.
