Agreement on government coalition and annexes not yet made public

The agreement signed by the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the group of the Liberal reformers, on the creation of the Coalition for Pro-European Government, hasn’t been yet made public as a number of technical items are to be added to it. It will become known on June 3 at the latest, together with its two annexes, Deputy Speaker Adrian Candu said in the program “Good evening “ on the public TV channel, IPN reports.

Adrian Candu said the negotiations in this accord weren’t as open as they wanted because they didn’t want to compromise the process. They agreed in the talks that every party will make the statements they consider favorable namely for them. “The negotiations weren’t easy, but we are glad about the result. As to the agreement, it will be made public together with its annexes. The first annex refers to Parliament and the composition of the permanent commissions. The second annex includes the ministries and institutions managed by the Government,” he stated.

Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici said they didn’t make many statements so as not to damage the negotiation process. “Those who took part in the talks had the idea of forming a coalition in their heads from the very beginning. A large part of the confidence was lost and couldn’t be restored during only two weeks. I think the result achieved in Parliament laid the basis for restoring this trust,” she stated.

Political analyst Anatol Taranu said the result of the negotiations was the one expected by many people. “You made a gift to this country when you came to terms. We are concerned more with the mechanisms that can exclude the oligarchic interests from the Government,” he said.

Journalist Valentina Ursu said the mass media wanted more transparency, as they promised, because the press started to realize what was going on only towards the end of the Parliament’s sitting, when they started to elect people to different posts.

Political analyst Corneliu Ciurea referred to the visits and messages of the European officials, saying they delivered certain messages and made certain suggestions. As to the transparency of the talks, the analyst is convinced that such negotiations cannot be open.

The Government headed by Iurie Leanca was voted in on May 30. Igor Corman was elected Speaker, while Adrian Candu and Oleg Bodrug – Deputy Speakers. Changes were also made to the Parliament’s standing commissions.
