The Chisinau-Iasi-Chisinau trip will last by 90 minutes less after the distance from Ungheni to Iasi will be of 15 km on a straight line, says the agreement on the building and exploitation of the border road bridge over the Prut, between Ungheni in Moldova and Ungheni in Romania, which was signed in Chisinau after the joint meeting of the Governments of the two states, IPN reports.
The bridge will interconnect the road infrastructure between the two countries: Highway Târgu Mureș – Iasi – Ungheni – state boarder (Romania) and national road R1 Chisinau – Ungheni – border with Romania (Moldova).
The Government of Romania will cover the costs associated with the construction of the bridge and the access way, including the related infrastructures situated on Romania’s territory, while the access way and the related infrastructure on Moldova’s territory will be financed by the Government of Moldova, with an estimated 36 million lei.
The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu.
The two officials also signed an agreement on technical, financial, legal and organizational aspects of the reinforcement of the border road bridge between the two states over the Prut, between Giurgiulești in the Republic of Moldova and Galați in Romania.
Andrei Spînu also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in energy security with Minister of Energy Virgil Popescu.
