The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, the National Employment Agency and veterans’ organizations signed an agreement of cooperation on the social protection of veterans. The document envisions the formulation of policies for improving the situation of war veterans, IPN reports.
Minister of Labor Stela Grigoras said that this event is very important in the context of the implementation of the plan of action “Memory, Honor, Respect” that was adopted by the Government. “The signing of the agreement formalizes a permanent, constructive and sustainable dialogue for developing and implementing social policies on the protection, social inclusion and employment of veterans,” stated the official.
Head of the Union of Afghan War Veterans Mihail Mocan said it is an important agreement because it envisions the elaboration of policies together with the veterans, who know their problems best.
Chairman of the War Veterans Association “Faith to the Homeland” Ghenadie Cosovan voiced hope that this accord will achieve its goal of creating the personal files of each invalid and each war widow. The relatives of those killed on the battlefield should know that these didn’t fight in vain, but for the country and the people and this thing is appreciated.
Ion Coropceanu, senior state adviser to Prime Minister Pavel Filip, noted that the agreement is the foundation stone of the system that is to be created and implemented based on the plan of action “Memory, Honor, Respect”. “We will build a system that will swiftly react to veterans’ problems and will provide solutions. We will shorten the period needed for solving a problem,” he stated.
In the signing ceremony, there were signaled a number of problems faced by the veterans, including the small pensions of persons who voluntarily went to war and of the invalids, the neglect of heroes’ graves and the lack of assistance for the elderly relatives of those killed.
