“After the early elections, justice will become a top priority,” Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase, Liberal-Democrat MP

[The Republic of Moldova at an intersection of years – Info-Prim Neo survey] [ - How was 2009 for You?] - 2009 saw the removal of the Communists from power, despite realistic expectations and calculations. It was the last Communist regime in Europe. It wasn't easy as 2009 was a complicated year full of events. Mass rallies were staged in 2009. I watched a documentary on TV about the Romanian revolution of December 1989. I consider the events that happened in Chisinau were better structured and ended in better results. After the early elections held in Moldova following the April 6 and 7 events, the Communists were removed from power even if they still hold many seats in the Parliament. [ - What are you expectations for 2010?] - I expect we will have a stable majority, a stable Government and a stable head of state in 2010. I expect that all the state institutions will function perfectly. We now have an acting head of state and a government that does not know when its term in office will expire. It is psychologically difficult to impose your authority in such an atmosphere. I'm sure that after the early elections that will take place, justice will become a top priority. The Moldovan legal system must be improved as its institutional framework and the persons involved in it discredited it. The corruption and political influence exerted by the Communists Party on the legal system dispelled the illusions that this system can be easily reformed. This means that we need substantial reforms.
