After having been held in the Transnistrian region for over a year, Adrian Glijin was allowed a visit from his mother. He is held in remand prison No. 3 in Tiraspol (SIZO UIN-3 Tiraspol). Promo-LEX Association said the meeting that lasted for about an hour wasn’t a confidential one. It wasn’t possible to obtain information about the state of health or the accusations made against the detainees, IPN reports.

Adrian Glijin complained about heart problems. He said he is held in inhuman conditions and does not know when he will be released. Given the new circumstances, Promo-LEX called again on the Moldovan and Russian authorities to make efficient efforts to obtain the release of Adrian Glijin, who is held illegally, and to urgently ensure the access of an independent doctor who will assess the state of health and the treatment needs of the young man.

Adrian Glijin was kidnapped by five individuals with balaclavas near Cuzmin village of Camenca district, on the left side of the Nistru, on October 7, 2020. In a press briefing on December 7, 2020, the minister of the interior of Moldova said the kidnappings of October 2020, including of Adrian Glijin, were a consequence of the conviction by the Moldovan authorities of a former militiaman from the Transnistrian region for kidnaping and use of torture.

As Adrian Glijin’s relatives didn’t know anything about him, Promo-LEX Association on October 28, 2021 launched a camping titled “Show him alive”. The campaign was aimed at persuading the constitutional authorities, the Russian authorities and the players of the “5+2” format to immediately become involved to defend the rights and set free Adrian Glijin. The immediate objective of the campaign was to obtain images and statements showing Adrian Glinn alive and his condition.

On November 5, the Reintegration Policies Bureau published a reaction, saying that the young man’s rights and freedoms continue to be encroached upon and the de facto administration of the Transnistrian region refused to provide relevant information. On the same day, Adrian Glijin’s mother sent a new letter, but the administration of the place of detention (SIZO UIN-3 Tiraspol) refused to accept it, arguing correspondence is not allowed.

On December 7, the young man’s mother held a new news conference where she reiterated the previous requests to be allowed to have a meeting with her son and to set him free from illegal detention.
