Practically all the wells in Opaci village of Causeni district were affected by floods. Secretary of the Opaci local council Natalia Plai has told IPN that medical nurses travel through the village and warn the people not to drink water from wells as they risk catching infections.
The levee of the local pond burst in the evening of July 4 and the water reached the people’s homes. Twenty-nine houses were damaged or partially demolished.
The Ministry of the Interior informed that most of the cells and basements in the village have been flooded. The local roads are mostly impassable. More houses were damaged and caved in during the night.
The authorities supplied the villagers with drinking water by a tank. The destroyed bridges started to be repaired. The rescuers are pumping water out of cellars and basements. The electric power supply was restored at midnight.
The local authorities haven’t yet assessed the damage caused by floods, including to crops.
