AEI’s concrete was rather a figure of speech, Anatol Taranu

[Info-Prim Neo article from the series “2011: how it was and how it wasn’t”. Repeat from 21.12.11] {“AEI agreement – one year of government” in the opinion of Anatol Taranu, political analyst} “The alliance has never been ‘of concrete’ as they repeatedly said. This expression is a figure of speech rather that a reality and the weakness of the democratic coalition has repercussions for the governance results. After two years of the formation of the AEI, it became evident that this political construction needs to be cardinally re-formed,” said political analyst Anatol Taranu, adding that if the re-formation does not take place, the government will witnessed a serious defeat in the next elections. The alliance has several times been close to dismemberment. Anatol Taranu believes that this is due to diverging interests existing inside the alliance. “The alliance has been unable to detach itself from many noxious practices of the Communist government and even applied some of the Communists’ fraudulent enrichment schemes. This thing played a trick on them later,” he stated. According to Anatol Taranu, many of the AEI policies have been regulated by unwritten rules rather than the provisions of the alliance constitution agreement. “The unwritten rules, which refer to the oligarchic interests, influenced a large part of the political practices of the AEI and discredit the alliance before the voters. At the same time, the venturesome attempts to remove the oligarchic influences instantly caused internal quakes inside the alliance and aroused suspicions as regards the alliance’s vivacity. This is the most lamentable result of the current government which is not yet able to persevere in radically changing the system,” said the analyst. Asked if the AEI agreement would remain the same if time was turned back, the analyst said he trusts the ability of the alliance’s leaders to draw the necessary conclusions as regards the mistakes made and to correct them. Anatol Taranu said that only a coalition government is possible in Moldova at present. “The electorate is very fragmented and this excludes a non-coalition government,” he stated. The agreement to form the Alliance for European Integration 2 was signed on December 30, 2010. [Irina Turcanu, Info-Prim Neo]
