AEI will submit document ascertaining circumstances for dissolving Parliament to Constitutional Court

The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) on September 6 signed the document ascertaining the circumstances requiring dissolving Parliament and will lodge it with the Constitutional Court tomorrow, September 7, Info-Prim Neo reports. The leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Serafim Urecheanu said that after April 5, 2009 the AEI was ready to amend Article 78 of the Constitution in Parliament, but the Communists missed this chance and transformed this exercise into political blackmailing. “I consider that the September 5 constitutional referendum was a democratic exercise not only of the political parties, but of the entire society and even the mass media,” Urecheanu said, adding the work of a number of media organizations is questionable. Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, the chairman of the Liberal Party, said the PCRM should not rejoice at the failure of the referendum. “The Communists Party threatened the people with the union with Romania and that they will not receive pensions. I hope that after the elections, the Alliance will win 61 seats of MP and we will be able to bring this crisis to an end. We will be making everything possible not to return to this political crisis. The people must vote so that the Alliance gets 61 seats (the MPs can elect the head of state by 61 votes – e.n.),” Mihai Ghimpu stressed. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the Parliament must be dissolved within a reasonable time frame so that the early elections take place not later than November 14.
